PYA, a Top 100 accounting firm and one of the nation’s largest privately held healthcare consulting firms is pleased to announce it is opening a seventh office location in Charlotte, North Carolina. The opening will strengthen the firm’s presence in both North and South Carolina, bringing our teams closer to clients throughout the southeastern United States.
Annapoorani Bhat has been named the Office Managing Principal of the new office. She specializes in valuation and related consulting services for companies in the healthcare sector. Bhat has expertise in the valuation of businesses and assets for transactions, financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and internal strategic planning purposes.
“PYA’s launch of this new Charlotte office helps us to continue to meet the highly nuanced needs of clients in both rural and metropolitan areas,” said PYA Principal and CEO Marty Brown. “We are eager to have Anna leading our expansion in Charlotte, an area she knows well, and in which she has longstanding relationships.”
The Charlotte office also gives PYA access to a growing pool of professional talent in the Carolinas. The new location allows the firm to recruit from those markets, while giving new hires a local home base.

PYA has been named one of America’s Most Recommended Tax and Accounting Firms in the 2024 USA TODAY rankings based on surveys by Statista, an independent market research institute.
USA TODAY ranks firms in two categories: the 100 Most Recommended Tax Firms and the 100 Most Recommended Accounting Firms, and PYA is included in both lists. PYA is one of only four tax firms and one of five accounting firms listed in Tennessee and is the only ranked firm headquartered in Knoxville.

The rankings are based on the number of recommendations gathered from professionals and clients across the country. To compile the data, Statista “conducted broad surveys of tax and accounting professionals and their clients. Peers were asked for up to 10 tax or accounting firms they would recommend if their company couldn’t take on a client. Clients were asked for up to 10 tax or accounting firms based on their professional experience over the past three years,” according to the USA TODAY announcement.

Bhat joined PYA in 2013 and serves as the Managing Principal of the firm’s Charlotte office. She possesses more than two decades of valuation experience and specializes in the health sciences sector serving providers, payers, and healthcare technology companies.
A published thought leader and speaker, Bhat’s work for PYA’s Strategic & Transaction Solutions Program focuses on the valuation of businesses and assets for transactions, regulatory compliance, financial reporting, and internal strategic planning. Bhat is also an expert in brand valuation, having served some of the most prestigious healthcare organizations in determining the value of their brands.
Bhat earned a Bachelor of Social Sciences degree and a Master of Social Science in Applied Economics degree from the National University of Singapore. She also holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Boston College. She is a member of the American Society of Appraisers (ASA) and is an ASA-accredited senior appraiser in the business valuation discipline. She is a member of the American Health Law Association and the Women Business Leaders of the U.S. Health Care Industry Foundation and a board member of the Union County Library Foundation Board.
