On-Demand Webinar: Preparing for the Patient-Driven Payment Model

PYA Principal Kathy Greenlee and Consulting Manager Amy Dalton recently presented “Preparing for the Patient-Driven Payment Model.”  This complimentary one-hour webinar was hosted by PYA in conjunction with the Florida Hospital Association.

Taking effect October 1, 2019, the Patient-Driven Payment Model (PDPM) will require skilled nursing facilities (SNFs) to make significant operational changes.  PDPM will emphasize clinical elements to promote accurate payment and to provide the resources required to care for the diverse needs of residents in a SNF.  Providers must plan for these changes by gaining an understanding of the new payment model through Minimum Data Set (MDS) coding and reimbursement implications, and learning about potential opportunities and risks.

In this webinar, Kathy and Amy:

  • Defined PDPM.
  • Explained the reimbursement model’s transition from therapy-based payment to payment for complex care.
  • Identified the driving forces of reimbursement under PDPM.
  • Outlined steps to prepare for and thrive under PDPM.
  • Described how PDPM fits into the larger context of the healthcare continuum.
