Uptick in Government Enforcement Puts Compliance Front and Center at HCCA

With a focus on helping healthcare compliance professionals solve problems and preparing them to improve their organizations’ compliance programs, the Health Care Compliance Association’s 24th Annual Compliance Institute’s mission is in line with PYA’s everyday mission to help strengthen its clients’ compliance initiatives.

PYA Principal and Chief Compliance Officer Shannon Sumner is pleased to present “The Role of Compliance in Government Enforcement: An Exploration of Recent Enforcement Activities, Evolution of Settlement Agreements, and Insights from a Corporate Monitorship.” In this session, she will:

  • Cover recent policy changes demonstrating the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) increased focus on compliance, exploring a more pragmatic and common sense approach to enforcement, recognizing the value of an effective compliance program.
  • Delve into recent DOJ activities’ impact on corporation credit in False Claims Act cases from the perspective of a former U.S. Deputy Attorney General and corporate monitor.
  • Explore the evolution of settlement agreements, such as Corporate Integrity Agreements and Deferred Prosecution Agreements, and the DOJ’s and Office of Inspector General’s expectations for compliance with the terms of these agreements.

Due to concerns regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19), this year’s Compliance Institute has been transformed into a Virtual Conference, March 29-April 1, 2020. Learn more.
