What started as an in-person Florida event has grown into a national brand. In the “Let’s Talk Compliance” series, PYA and Foley & Lardner bring together nationally recognized thought leaders—healthcare attorneys, certified public accountants, valuators, and healthcare advisors—to discuss timely and vital compliance issues. The series includes multiple yearly educational offerings via articles, webinars, and podcasts.

CEU Credits Are Available

Type: CPE, CHC, & CLE*

On January 22, PYA and Foley & Lardner LLP will present the eighth annual Let’s Talk Compliance virtual conference. The event will be moderated by Foley Health Care Partner Jana Kolarik and PYA Principal Angie Caldwell. Panelists include attorneys from Foley’s Health Care & Life Sciences Sector as well as PYA’s healthcare consulting, compliance, and cybersecurity experts.

The one-day conference features two focused sessions covering key compliance developments, provider compensation insights, and the rapidly evolving intersection of artificial intelligence (AI) and HIPAA. It’s designed for leaders who want to stay ahead of regulatory expectations, understand the issues shaping 2026, and start the year with clarity. CPE, CLE, and CHC credits* are available, and this educational activity is offered free of charge.

Session 1: Key Compliance Developments for 2026

11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. ET

Even with a change in administration, health care enforcement has continued to be a priority across agencies, including the DOJ, HHS-OIG, and CMS. Recent activity includes high-profile False Claims Act settlements, sustained levels of whistleblower lawsuits, and heightened scrutiny of healthcare arrangements such as provider compensation, marketing engagements, and billing activities, often resulting in significant financial penalties and compliance interventions.

During this webinar, Foley’s Judy Waltz and PYA’s Lori Foley will discuss the current state of enforcement and its impact on health systems, hospitals, and providers. PYA’s Angie Caldwell and Foley’s Jana Kolarik will also address provider compensation risks, related regulatory expectations, and the practical use of the CMS self-disclosure process.

Learning Objectives:

  • Overview of enforcement agencies and their current areas of focus
  • Identification of emerging regulatory risks facing providers and Medicare Advantage plans
  • Discussion of emerging enforcement theories, including causation in anti-kickback cases
  • Preventive compliance measures
  • Identification of risky physician compensation designs, approaches to de-risk them, and methods for resolving past issues

Session 2: AI and HIPAA Trends Reshaping Compliance

12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. ET

This session examines how accelerating AI adoption is reshaping healthcare compliance expectations. As regulators increase scrutiny around data use, privacy safeguards, and accountability, compliance leaders are being challenged to revisit traditional privacy frameworks in light of emerging technologies and evolving enforcement priorities.

In a session moderated by PYA’s Sarah Bowman, Jennifer Hennessy and Chanley Howell will explore how AI-driven data utilization, governance requirements, and privacy and security enforcement trends are influencing compliance strategy. The discussion links regulatory developments with practical considerations for risk management, governance, and compliance program alignment heading into 2026.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Analyze emerging AI adoption trends and their impact on privacy compliance frameworks and enforcement priorities
  • Evaluate data governance strategies that address AI-driven data utilization, protection of information, and regulatory expectations
  • Identify privacy and security enforcement trends shaping compliance programs, including OCR enforcement priorities and risk-based approaches
  • Develop adaptive compliance strategies that integrate AI risk management, third-party vendor oversight, and governance best practices
