“Accepting the Challenges of Physician Compensation in Rural Markets”

PYA Principal Angie Caldwell spoke at the annual American Association of Provider Compensation Professionals (AAPCP) National Provider Compensation Conference. She was joined by Chad Hovis, Chief Financial Officer of Boone Memorial Hospital. Their presentation, “Accepting the Challenges of Physician Compensation in Rural Markets,” covered the realities of rural medicine and the significant and different challenges hospitals and health systems in rural markets face when it comes to recruiting and retaining physicians. Along with case studies and best practices, it detailed:

  • Rural hospital closures and population loss.
  • Recruiting to your strategy.
  • Knowing your market and competition.
  • Rural physician compensation legends debunked.

The conference was held in person in Indianapolis on May 5-6, 2022. View the presentation slides here.
