During the 14th annual Alumni Awards Gala on November 3, the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Haslam College of Business honored PYA as the 2023 Outstanding Corporate Partner.
The gala gathered approximately 400 alumni, faculty, staff, and friends of the college to celebrate three alumni and one business for exemplary support during the year.
PYA was recognized for the firm’s committed support of Haslam students, faculty, programs, and facilities. For many years, PYA has fostered a close partnership with Haslam and has invested both time and financial resources toward its success. PYA representatives have advised the college in curriculum and program developments, invested in capital improvements, provided the leadership gift for the Richard Townsend Endowment, hosted students from Haslam’s summer high school programs, and provided internships. PYA also frequently recruits Haslam graduates. In the company’s seven offices across the nation, more than 30% of PYA employees hold degrees from the University of Tennessee, most of those from Haslam.
“In its simplest form, the relationship between Haslam and PYA is workforce development,” said President and Chief Executive Officer Marty Brown. “When you can hire people who are not only ready for the workforce but also able to pass the CPA exam, that’s key. Given the role the Haslam College of Business has played and continues to play in our firm, our community, and our state, we view our partnership as a responsibility and a privilege,” he continued. “Through our enduring relationship with the Haslam College of Business, we honor our roots as we help to enable the incredible work done within the walls of the college and advance the profession the students will soon enter. PYA is deeply honored by the Outstanding Corporate Partner Award, and we look forward to many more years of enriching our partnership.”
