Mike Shamblin
Managing Principal of Audit & Assurance
Mike leads PYA’s Audit & Assurance practice area, including the Firm’s Top 15 nationally ranked audit practice of large multi-hospital health systems. He oversees Audit & Assurance services for a variety of industries, including healthcare providers and financial institutions, across the Firm’s five office locations. Mike’s clients include multi-hospital health systems, community hospitals, multi-specialty physician clinics, academic physician practice plans, multi-bank holding companies, savings and loan associations, credit unions, and other for-profit and non-profit organizations. Mike has worked with organizations with revenue exceeding $2 billion and has significant experience with internal control design matters. He has assisted several clients in performing organizational risk assessments and in correcting internal control deficiencies. In addition, Mike has served as an expert witness on matters involving financial statement fraud and embezzlement and is a frequent speaker and author on accounting and financial reporting matters.
Mike received his Master of Accountancy and Bachelor of Business Administration degrees from East Tennessee State University. A CPA licensed in Georgia, Florida, and Tennessee, Mike is a member of the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants (TSCPA) and the TSCPA Financial Institutions Task Force. He recently served as chairman of HLB International: Global Advisory & Accounting Network, North American Healthcare Industry Group. He is a graduate of Leadership Knoxville, Class of 2018, and serves on the board of directors for Knoxville Habitat for Humanity, where he is the former chairman and treasurer. He serves as the 2023 chairman of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Light the Night and has served on the board of directors of several other not-for-profit community organizations.
