PYA Principal Quoted in HCCA Article on CMS Regulatory Changes in Health Equity

PYA Principal Martie Ross is quoted in the recently published Report on Medicare Compliance, in an article that covers the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) regulatory changes regarding health equity and the effect they will have on reporting requirements, payment policy, and coverage decisions. In “CMS Focus on Health Equity Infuses Reporting Payment; ‘This is Not a Side Project,’” Martie describes health inequities that have made headlines—from the impact the pandemic had on communities of racial minorities and those living in rural areas to maternal health outcomes. The article also outlines 10 “regulatory and payment levers” for health equity, including 5 already revised by CMS and 5 that are expected to be revised.

CMS has already pulled some “regulatory levers” to address health equity, and “the focus will continue and become more intense and more directly tied to reimbursement in Medicare and Medicaid,” said Martie Ross, a consulting principal at PYA. . . . “It’s become evident something in our system is driving the inequity,” Ross said at a June 1 webinar sponsored by PYA.
