“Surprise Billing — No More Surprises”

The 2021 Spring Conference and Annual Meeting for the Florida Chapter of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) was held in person this year from May 23-26.

PYA Senior Managers Kathy Reep and Dave Ebel spoke on May 25. They were joined by Michael Stubee, AVP of Managed Care, at Orlando Health for their presentation, “Surprise Billing — No More Surprises.” Their session reviewed Consolidated Appropriations Act (CAA) provisions that deal with surprise billing and transparency in patient pricing. It included a discussion on implementation concerns from the provider perspective. Key learning points included:

  • Obtain a better understanding of the No Surprises Act that was signed into law as part of the CAA.
  • Gain insight into the impacts the Act has on patients, providers, and health plans.
  • Gain insight into the requirements regarding surprise medical billing, transparency requisites, and consumer protections.

The event was held in Tampa, Florida, with limited attendance. The program was eligible for up to 14 CPE credits in various fields of study.

If you would like additional information about surprise billing provisions under the CAA, or for assistance with any matter related to reimbursement, strategy and integration, compliance, or valuation, contact a PYA executive below at (800) 270-9629.
