Maintaining the security of client data has long been a priority of PYA, and to strengthen that focus, the firm is pleased to welcome Rick Simpson as Chief Information Security Officer.
Simpson has over 20 years of information technology (IT) leadership experience in digital transformation, cybersecurity, and enterprise technology modernization, with a focus on IT security and compliance. He most recently served as director of information technology at East Tennessee’s Children’s Hospital.

Rick not only brings two decades of experience in information security, but he also is known for advancing digital health innovation and aligning IT strategy with organizational goals,” said PYA President David McMillan.
Simpson has led enterprise-wide digital transformation initiatives and comprehensive incident response, disaster recovery, and continuity framework implementation efforts for major health systems. He has successfully achieved technology modernization initiatives, cybersecurity readiness, risk assessment and mitigation, regulatory compliance strategies, and system performance, reliability, and efficiency improvements.
Among many relevant credentials, Simpson is a Certified Healthcare Chief Information Officer, Certified Digital Health Executive, Certified Healthcare Information Security Leader, and Licensed Pharmacy Technician. He earned a Master of Science in Health Administration degree, with a focus on Health Informatics, from Trident University International and a Bachelor of Science in Technology Education degree from the University of Tennessee.
