PYA Executives Discuss Service Line Carveouts and Ambulatory Services Transactions at National Conference

Two PYA executives are sharing thought leadership on healthcare carveouts and ambulatory services transactions at the American Health Law Association (AHLA) 2025 Health Care Transactions conference, held May 5-7 in Nashville. The AHLA is the nation’s largest, nonpartisan, and nonprofit educational organization devoted to legal issues in the healthcare field. The annual conference is the premier gathering for counsel, compliance professionals, consultants, and private equity professionals to stay updated on legal, regulatory, and business issues related to mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and other transactions.

On May 5 and 6, Annapoorani Bhat, Principal, will present “Value in Strategic Divestitures – Legal and Value Considerations around Service Line Carveouts” with co-presenter, Michael Barry, Arnall Golden Gregory. Session attendees will learn about the legal and regulatory implications of service line carveouts and hear case studies with carveout valuation considerations. Bhat and Barry will offer insights to help health systems prepare for successful service line carveout transactions.

On May 6 and 7, Michael Ramey, Managing Principal of Strategic & Transaction Solutions, will present “The Race to Build Ambulatory Service Empires: Top Considerations for Growing Ambulatory Services through Transactions” with Patrick Cross, Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP. Ramey and Cross will discuss how health systems can compete with investor-owned entities for top assets, motivations for ambulatory asset sellers, and threats and opportunities to existing business models. Attendees will learn about alternative transaction structures for ambulatory assets, characteristics of good and bad ambulatory investment opportunities, and more.
