PYA Discusses Regulatory Updates and Cybersecurity at Oklahoma Conference

Three PYA leaders will be presenting at the Oklahoma Hospital Association (OHA) Connect 24 statewide conference Nov. 20-22, Oklahoma City. The conference is OHA’s largest annual event bringing together healthcare leaders from across the state.

On Nov. 20, PYA Principal Martie Ross and Senior Manager Kathy Reep will present, “Rural Regulatory Round-Up.” Federal agencies regulating healthcare providers have produced thousands of pages of new regulations and sub-regulatory guidance in 2024. During the session, Ross and Reep will present key regulatory changes impacting rural hospitals and offer practical strategies for compliance. Topics will include 2025 final rules in IPPS; MPFS; and OPPS, including Maternal Health Conditions of Participation; and other final rules. They also will discuss HIPAA privacy rule changes, price transparency, Critical Access Hospital co-payments, Medicare Advantage, the FTC non-compete rule, and the impact of the Supreme Court’s Loper Bright decision, and present a Rural Emergency Hospital program update.

PYA Principal Barry Mathis will partner with Corey Lively, CEO, Great Plains Regional Medical Center, and Phillip Smith, Vice President, INSURICA, to present a panel discussion, “Navigating the Aftermath: Cybersecurity Resilience in Healthcare,” on Nov. 20. Mathis, a seasoned cybersecurity consultant, will moderate a critical conversation on the impacts of cyberattacks in hospital settings. Lively will discuss a significant cyberattack his hospital experienced, and Smith will share the broader implications of cyber threats across the healthcare industry. This panel discussion aims to provide valuable perspectives on preparedness, response strategies, and the future of cybersecurity in healthcare. Attendees will leave with actionable insights to better protect their organizations against potential cyber threats.

PYA is a proud platinum underwriter for the Oklahoma Hospital Association.
