New Resource: PYA Offers End-of-the-PHE Compliance Checklist

End of the PHE Compliance Checklist to help providers identify the work to be done by May 11. Updated May 22, 2023.

On January 30, 2023, the Biden Administration announced it would not renew the current COVID-19 public health emergency (PHE) declaration, meaning it will expire on May 11, 2023. Numerous federal regulatory waivers and flexibilities will be terminated, greatly impacting healthcare providers, who now must roll back policies and practices related to those waivers and flexibilities.

In response, PYA has prepared the End-of-the-PHE Compliance Checklist to help providers identify the work to be done by May 11. While all providers can benefit from reviewing all of the sections, the checklist categorizes the waivers and flexibilities according to the type of provider most directly impacted and cites relevant regulations, as applicable.

The checklist focuses primarily on waivers and flexibilities relating to the Medicare program, and providers are encouraged to seek more information as part of their complete analysis.

The checklist was shared and discussed during a complimentary webinar presented by PYA consultants Martie Ross and Kathy Reep on March 15, 2023. It was updated on May 22, 2023.
