Webinar: 2021 HIPAA Privacy Rule Proposed Changes

PYA Senior Manager Kathy Reep co-presented a webinar session on the 2021 HIPAA Privacy Rule Proposed Changes along with Betsy Hodge of Akerman, LLP. The session was sponsored by the Florida Sunshine Chapter American Association of Healthcare Administrative Management and focused on the revisions likely to impact healthcare providers’ operations, key areas for provider comment, and other issues such as:

  • Understanding how the HIPAA Privacy Rule proposed changes relate to the ONC Information Blocking Final Rule and other recent federal rulemaking.
  • Identifying the significant changes that OCR is proposing to the HIPAA Privacy Rule and how those changes could affect healthcare systems’ business operations.
  • What providers can do to start preparing for the final rule.

In addition, the program included an open discussion of various questions posed in the Proposed Rule for which OCR is seeking comment.

The webinar took place on Thursday, January 14 at 10 a.m. EST. View the presentation slides here.
