PYA Prepared to Tackle Fraud and Compliance Issues at AHLA Forum

Baltimore’s Inner Harbor was the setting for this year’s American Health Lawyers Association (AHLA) 2019 Fraud and Compliance Forum, which took place September 25-27, 2019.  The event united legal counsel, compliance officers, and government officials for education and connection. PYA was proud to support programming focused on the Stark Law, False Claims Act, Anti-Kickback Statute, and current enforcement activities.

Breakout sessions addressed edemerging regulatory trends, recent case law and legislative developments, and implications for legal and compliance practices in healthcare. A few of the sessions included:

  • “Hot Topics in Healthcare Cybersecurity”
  • “Avoiding the Top 10 HIPAA Compliance Pitfalls”
  • “Fraud and Abuse Issues in Telehealth/Medicine”

Joanne M. Chiedi, acting Inspector General in the Office of Inspector General at the Department of Health and Human Services, delivered the keynote address.
