In a new series of podcasts from the American Health Law Association (AHLA), PYA thought leaders will join other experts to discuss trending topics in healthcare compliance. PYA Principal Bob Paskowski joined Mackenzie Wallace of Thompson Coburn for the first episode to discuss “Provider/Payer Disputes.” Mackenzie is also the Vice Chair of Education for AHLA’s Healthcare Liability workgroup.

In the episode titled “Provider and Payer Disputes: Latest Trends and Challenges,” Bob and Mackenzie provided insights on current challenges in the healthcare industry, including the ever-dynamic relationship between providers and payers. They also discussed changing legislation—including the No Surprises Act—and payer practices, specifically addressing a recent OIG report about Medicare Advantage denials of prior-authorization requests and the impact on beneficiary access to medically necessary care. In addition, they talked about the types of client requests they are addressing with providers related to payer disputes.

PYA is proud to continue its longstanding relationship with AHLA by sponsoring this series, which sheds light on many of the compliance issues our clients face regularly.
