PYA Announces Two New Equity Principals

PYA is pleased to announce that Barry Mathis and Andrew Stafford have been promoted to Equity Principal, effective January 1, 2023.

Barry Mathis joined PYA in 2016 as an Information Technology (IT) Principal. He has three decades of experience in IT and the healthcare industry as a Chief Information Officer, Chief Technology Officer, senior IT audit manager, and IT risk management consultant. He has performed and managed complicated technology assessments, EMR implementations, security audits, and hundreds of contract negotiations for some of the most sophisticated hospital systems in the country.

Barry is a member of the United States Marine Corps, the Health Care Compliance Association, the Association of Healthcare Internal Auditors, the Healthcare Information Management Systems Society, and the Audit and Control Association.

Andrew Stafford joined PYA in 2012. His work for the firm’s Transaction Advisory Services team includes merger and acquisition facilitation, quality of earnings analyses and other due diligence services, business valuation, feasibility studies, strategic planning, and physician compensation analysis. He works with non-profit community hospitals, multi-hospital health systems, ambulatory service providers, physician practices, private equity investors, and for-profit consolidators of health services on strategic and transactional matters.

Andrew holds a Bachelors degree from East Tennessee State University and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK). He remains active with his alma mater as a member of the Haslam Young Alumni Board. He is also a student mentor for the Haslam Alumni Ambassadors.
