On-Demand Webinar: “Back to the Future: Get Ready for the End of the PHE”

On October 13, 2022, the federal government extended the COVID-19 public health emergency through January 11, 2023. The administration promises to give 60 days’ notice of termination but encourages providers to prepare for the end of regulatory flexibilities now.

During this webinar, PYA’s Martie Ross and Kathy Reep discussed CMS’ latest guidance and addressed how providers should be preparing for the return to normal operations (or the new normal), including the following:

  • Telehealth and Virtual Services
    • Scope of the PHE waiver
    • Impact of 2023 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule proposed rule (expanded telehealth services, post-PHE billing rules)
    • Impact of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021 (telebehavioral health services)
    • Impact of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2022 (151-day post-PHE waiver extension)
    • Other legislative initiatives
    • Agency enforcement discretion (licensure, waiver of co-payments, HIPAA compliance)
  • Hospital Capacity
    • SNF three-day stay
    • Temporary sites
    • Swing beds
    • Acute Hospital Care at Home Program
  • Paperwork Reduction and Other Regulatory Flexibilities
  • Impact of Medicaid Disenrollment

This complimentary one-hour webinar took place on October 19, 2022.
