The goal of the Washington Ambulatory Surgery Center Association (WASCA) is to provide opportunities for education, resources for legal information, legislative advocacy, and assistance with operational issues relevant to the ambulatory surgery industry.  In keeping with that vision, WASCA held its Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) Symposium July 26, 2018, in Seattle, WA.  The Symposium offered industry members an opportunity to learn from, and network with, industry experts from across the country.  Additionally, they discussed current and critical business, legal, and regulatory impacts specific to ASCs in the Pacific Northwest.

PYA Principal Robert Paskowski led a discussion on “Payer Trends in the ASC Industry,” which covered:

  • Overall national trends
  • Hospital v. ASC comparisons
  • ASC “value pitch” to payers
  • Price transparency—defining price
