Health:Further, HIMSS Launch 4-Day Future-of-Health Festival in Music City

As a platinum sponsor of the Health:Further Festival, PYA is pleased to share details about a unique 4-day event coordinated by Health:Further and the Tennessee chapter of HIMSS.  PYA President Marty Brown says, “With healthcare at center stage nationally, it is an apropos time to bring together innovators in healthcare, technology, and the health and wellness community to inform the future of care.”

A new type of event recently announced for Nashville continues to grow.  Health:Further, a Nashville-based healthcare festival, has announced more partnerships and speakers for its 2017 event.

With Nashville generating $40B in annual revenue from the healthcare sector, and with $1.6B of venture capital flowing into healthcare startups between 2005 and 2015 (according to the Nashville Healthcare Council), it is a logical decision to create a Nashville-based event designed to encompass all aspects of health and healthcare.

This year, on August 22-25, Health:Further is expanding its conference to a four-day, festival-style event focused on “the future of health.”  While innovation in health technology will remain a significant emphasis, the company is adding programming around health and wellness, policy, and more. Topics such as food and fitness will be covered alongside mobile health and patient engagement, allowing attendees to gain new perspectives on both the state of the current system and ideas for future improvement.

Within the festival, TN HIMSS will be the sole provider of health IT programming through the Summit of the Southeast conference.  In addition, Hedgeye Risk Management is helping to program the Health:Further Investor Forum, open to a limited number of investors, that takes place on August 25.  Brain+Trust Partners has also joined as a partner to develop the Festival’s marketing track. Finally, additional partners to be announced soon will be providing programming around medical devices, policy, and funding issues, as well as bringing mentors to be part of the Festival’s Mentor Hours.

An outstanding roster of more than 90 speakers includes:

  • Greg Glassman, Founder & Chairman of CrossFit
  • Mary Mirabelli, VP at Hewlett-Packard & Chair of the HFMA
  • Lisa Prasad, Director of Global Innovation at the Henry Ford Health System
  • John Bass, CEO of Hashed Health
  • Seth Sternberg, Co-Founder & CEO of Honor
  • Jessica Sweeney-Platt, Executive Director of athenaResearch
  • Jeff Arnold, CEO of Sharecare
  • Aaron Symanski, CTO of Change Healthcare

The goal of this diverse programming and array of partners is to provide a broad perspective on issues within the healthcare industry as a means to encouraging solutions that will lead to a healthier society. Startup companies will showcase their work alongside established members of the community, and opportunities for networking and dealmaking will occur across the entire four days.

As noted above, Health:Further is also shifting from a traditional conference to a festival model for the event. In addition to the programming taking place at the Music City Center, concerts and parties will be hosted at quintessential venues throughout Nashville. The Cannery Ballroom and the Country Music Hall of Fame, as well as top restaurants, are among the locations selected.
