Charting Success: Key Risk-Contracting Provisions

PYA Principal Bob Paskowski is charting risk-contracting territory in an article published in the December issue of hfm Magazine, a publication of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA). Included in the article is a chart Bob used in a presentation given to a group of underwriters and reinsurance advisors who work with health insurers.

The article, “Enterprise Risk Management: A Key Success Factor Under Value-Based Care,” discusses the importance of implementing an integrated approach to managing risk within healthcare systems, and outlines four key areas that are integral to the successful achievement of value-focused care: population health management, provider contracting, provider billing practices, and insurance or reinsurance. Bob’s chart offers a visual explanation for key risk-contracting provisions.
