Ready or Not? Compliance in a World of New Models

Bridging the rocky waters of healthcare is the “Golden Gate” of educational healthcare programming–the 2017 American Health Lawyers Association (AHLA) Annual Meeting in San Francisco, California.  The event addressed topics of timely focus including healthcare plans in flux under the Affordable Care Act, Medicare’s shift from volume to value-based payments, and payment model transitions.

PYA Consulting Manager Kristen Lilly co-presented “Ready or Not? Compliance in a World of New Models,” along with Fatema Zanzi, Esq., from Drinker Biddle & Reath.

In the presentation, they:

  • Discussed strategies for preventing, detecting, and enforcing basic compliance principles in a world of new models, such as accountable care organizations, bundled payments, and more.
  • Evaluated compliance considerations for new model drivers, such as quality and data analytics.
  • Explored incentive arrangements with patients.
  • Discussed how culture, quality, and human resources play a role in compliance.
