PYA HIPAA Manuals Released as Deadline Approaches

With the September 23 deadline rapidly approaching for practices, healthcare entities, and business associates to comply with key provisions of the HIPAA Omnibus Rule, PYA has released new tools that will lead organizations through HIPAA compliance.

Among the resources available to help see your organization through the latest wave of regulations created by the Rule are updated HIPAA Privacy Rule and Security Rule Manuals.  These manuals supersede those offered by GatesMoore prior to its merger with PYA and incorporate the new provisions and changes that have evolved since 2003, when HIPAA made its way into most practices.   Written for busy practice administrators and HIPAA officers, these tools guide users step-by-step through the maze of HIPAA compliance.  They also may be customized with your practice’s general information, providing checklists, tips, and guidance so that you can fully adapt them to fit the realities of your organization.

Additionally, PYA’s expert team is available to assist as you update your entity’s compliance with these regulations.  This assistance is highly customizable and based on your specific needs.  Services range from telephone support related to general implementation questions (which can be purchased with the manuals) to customized HIPAA compliance assessments, gap analysis, and interim compliance-officer services.

The HIPAA Privacy and Security rules bring renewed incentive to maintain compliance.  The Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act mandates that the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services performs periodic audits to ensure compliance with these guidelines.   Additionally, the Office of Civil Rights has increased activity related to enforcement of HIPAA Security provisions.
