PYA Goes Back to the Future of Healthcare at 2018 Health:Further Festival

PYA again joins healthcare industry stakeholders for this year’s Health:Further Festival—three days of collaboration between more than 2,000 industry leaders, innovators, and investors.  A platinum sponsor, PYA is among the industry thought leaders to share insights throughout the festival.

PYA Principals Martie Ross and Michael Ramey will be featured in podcast sessions, which will be shared with the Health:Further community.

David McMillan, along with Ballad Health CEO Alan Levine, will lead a session on “The Multi-State Making of a Merger.”  They will discuss the use of Certificates of Public Advantage, or COPAs, and other similar legislative processes that allow states to approve, and provide ongoing oversight for, transactions that may otherwise be challenged or prohibited by the Federal Trade Commission and Department of Justice.  They will explore the effective use of this legislative process in the celebrated healthcare merger of Mountain States Health Alliance and Wellmont Health to form Ballad Health. David and Alan will share the ins and outs of a deal nearly four years in the making.  They will discuss:

  • Collaboration as a means to deliver more integrated, higher quality, and lower cost healthcare
  • Federal antitrust laws
  • COPAs
  • Other considerations in healthcare transactions

The Health:Further Festival takes place August 27-29, 2018, in Nashville, Tennessee.  Tickets no longer available.
