Ed Pershing
Ed Pershing is the President of PYA and has led the Firm’s growth from its formation with three employees to its position today as one of the leading accounting and consulting firms in the United States. Ed has vast experience and expertise in healthcare and has provided a full range of consulting services to over 100 healthcare organizations consisting of over 600 engagements since forming PYA. Ed’s extensive knowledge of the healthcare industry coupled with his financial and business experience provides our clients with insightful strategic advantage and vision.
Ed provides numerous healthcare advisory services to our clients including turnaround/performance improvement initiatives, long-range planning studies; development of numerous hospital and medical office projects; restructuring of healthcare organizations; liaison between Boards of Directors and management in crafting corporate visions/strategies; mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and leasing arrangements.
Ed has also served as an expert witness on healthcare industry matters and in several Certificate of Need (CON) appeals and represented healthcare organizations before regulatory agencies such as CMS, IRS, and State Departments of Mental Health, Insurance, and Medicaid.
Ed is a 1974 graduate of the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting (top Accounting graduate). Ed was also one of eighteen professionals from the United States and Great Britain to participate in the first Ernst & Ernst Accelerated Healthcare Program which was a one year full-time education and work study program in healthcare industry matters. He is a Certified Public Accountant.
Ed is a member of the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Healthcare Financial Management Association (advanced member), American Health Lawyer’s Association, and Tennessee Hospital Association.
