CMS Releases 2014 Medicare Shared Savings Program Key Dates

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services ( CMS ) has released key dates for the 2014 Medicare Shared Savings Program ( MSSP ) application cycle.

Many were expecting the 2014 application deadline to be the same as 2013–the first week in September. However, CMS has announced a July 31 deadline. An accountable care organization intending to submit an application must file a Notice of Intent by May 31 and obtain a CMS User ID by June 10. Failure to meet these deadlines will disqualify an organization from MSSP participation in 2014. CMS has not yet published the Notice of Intent form or the application packet.

CMS will host a national provider call April 9 regarding the 2014 MSSP application process. A second call is scheduled for April 23.

Providers interested in participation in this important program now will need to accelerate their planning efforts. To help organize your efforts, please refer to PYA s MSSP ACO Development Task List; visit the PYA Healthcare Blog, Bridging Business & Healthcare; and view more information from CMS.

To discuss the impact of this change on your organization and how PYA can help you complete these tasks and submit your MSSP application, please contact the experts listed below at (800) 270-9629.
