CMS Releases SSI Files for 2005 - 2006
(PYA Alert dated November 14, 2007)
On November 1, 2007, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released the 2005-2006 Supplemental Security Income (SSI) hospital calculations. The SSI percentage is based on Medicare inpatient days attributable to patients eligible for both Medicare Part A and SSI. This percentage is utilized to determine a hospital’s Medicare Disproportionate Share Hospital (DSH) Payments. This percentage could significantly affect your Medicare Inpatient Prospective System (IPPS) payments, as such we recommend it be reviewed for accuracy and impact. Feel free to contact us if you would like to have the reimbursement professionals at PYA review your SSI percentage and discuss it’s impact on your IPPS payments.
If you have questions on Medicare SSI percentage or other reimbursement matters, please contact Lisa Price or Butch Bullock at (800) 270-9629.
